Positives and Negatives of Being Out At Sea

  1. What do you feel are the positive aspects of being out at sea? Use evidence from your reading to support your answer.
  2. Do you feel there are any negative aspects of this journey at sea? Again, use evidence from your reading. Think about what the characters are going through.

    I think there are a few negatives, for example you never now when there might be a storm you could be trapped at sea for days.And in the book they kept saying they needed to fix up the Wanderer.If they kept saying that I'd get sort of nervous about sailing it.But, there are always positives like you get to live your dream of sailing,you get to catch fish,go clamming, and you get to see and vist your grandfather/Bompie!So really it's fun but some bad thoughts might cross your mind once in a while when your out at sea.Helenia

    I think their are some negatives in the story. For example the bottom of the Wanderer could get eaten and it can sink or their could be a storm unknown and you could get stuck on the boat for who knows how long. There are also positives.You get sail,go clamming,and visit your grandpa,Bompie.Sailing can be fun but once in a while bad things go through your head.Amaris

    I think there are some posivites and some negatives.One positive is,you can catch your own food like lobsters, clams,and other types of sea animals.One negitive is there could be a storm.I bet Sophie is feeling very worried on this journy.Sailing can be fun, but you have to watch out for yhe bad things!

    The positives about being at sea is that you get to enjoy the clear water and the hot sunshine. It's like a giant adventure until the nagitives strike! Sky scaping waves and terrible thunder storms make the boat seem helpless and small. The negitives are why I don't want to go sailing across the ocean.

    I think one of the positives about being out at sea is that you get to travel and explore. Like you can go to tons of different islands and walk aroundor learn new things.Another positive is all the new people you get to meet.But then again, there are negatives. At any moment there could be a storm,such as a thunderstorm,even a hurricane.If I were Sophie or Cody,or anyone on that boat, I think I would have fun, but know and be aware of what bad things could happen.
